My first week back

I was ecstatic as I sat in my car a minute away from school thinking about my teacher, thinking about my friends and most of all thinking about the new kids coming to Regent this year. In the one minute that was left, I remembered my first year in Regent. I came to Regent three years back having no friends, no idea what my teacher (Ms. Wyeth) would be like or any direction sense. So, I knew what they must have been feeling like. Suddenly, I was yanked back to reality because of my mom as she asked, “Ready for your first day at school?”.
“Yes mum,” I replied.

The moment had arrived, the moment I went to school. Faster than lightning, I sped into MPH 1 hoping to meet my friends. My wish was answered, I met all my friends from before and I also saw a lot of new faces (teachers and kids). But I was most excited to meet my teacher, so I went up to meet him. He said he was surprised to see me as somebody had told him I was going to a different school. Most of my best friends were in my class so I was elated about that. After all the students had reached, we were asked to line up class wise and that is when I met all the new children. There were four of them -three boys and one girl- all of them seemed nice. I knew this was going to be an exceptional year!

When we reached class, we played a little introduction game in which we got to know everybody, especially the new kids. Other than that, we created class rules posters and also took part in some more artistic and cool activities. By the end of the day I wasn’t even nervous (which I was before school) I was just excited about the new academic school year.

The rest of the week was just as amazing. We applied for class jobs, did creative writing and had fun in other specialist teacher’s classes (French, Arabic, Music etc.). Although this year was going to be hard, we as Year 6’s had the important job to be role models for the younger year groups. As we were the oldest, I also had a lot of friends who were the school leaders. Their job was even harder because they would be judging school competitions, inter-school competitions and other school related jobs.

All of this excitement, all of this love was shared just in the first week. I can’t imagine what it would be like at the end of the year. Thinking of the end, I am already dreading it because I am already loving it so much. My last year at Regent is going to be the best year ever! 😊
